More on Talladega:

Talladega Superspeedway is unlike any other track in NASCAR, a place where wild finishes and even wilder crashes are commonplace. At 2.66 miles, Talladega is the longest track in NASCAR, a mere 0.16 miles longer than either Daytona International Speedway or the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Rumor says that when NASCAR founder Big Bill France began putting the Talladega plan together, he wanted the track to be bigger than either Daytona or the Brickyard. More Talladega less-known facts include something known as the “Talladega Jinx”. Racers refer to this when relating strange things that have happened at the track over the years. Some believe the track was built on ancient Indian burial grounds and was cursed as a result. The strangest thing that ever happened here might have been in 1973, when the late Bobby Isaac parked his car mid-race and got out because voices in his head kept telling him to get out.

The weekend will include the Talladega 250, a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series on Saturday, October 13th at 1:00 pm. This race is 94 laps.

Starting at 5:30 pm, there is a free kids’ movie night followed by an infield concert featuring Chris Janson on Saturday night at 7:00 pm. The concert is open to all infield guests and Sunday 1000Bulbs.com 500 ticket holders!

All this is followed by the 1000Bulbs.com 500 race on Sunday at 1:00 pm (188 laps).

For more details and places to camp, plus racing experiences, Vintage Market Days later in October and more at Talladega, please see their website.

It may be unlikely to drive from Dover, Delaware to Talladega in Alabama but if you have the time, you could do a pretty cool NASCAR road round trip. You can rent an RV for your trip from El Monte RV Rentals location in Baltimore, less than 90 miles from Dover Speedway.
