Escape the cold! Head down to Corpus Christi, Texas for the perfect winter getaway. Outdoor lovers find the climate and all the activities available provide one of the best vacations you can imagine. Grab some fresh seafood, beach comb the sandy beaches or enjoy holiday festivities. The choice is yours! RV camping at Hatch RV Park might suit your needs perfectly. This RV park is centrally located, making a great home base for your adventures.

Not long after you hit town, you’ll want to get over to see the USS Lexington and take a tour of this amazing war boat. This aircraft carrier was the most highly decorated one in World War II. Explore to your heart’s content. Then take off for the Padre Island National Seashore. Check out every inch of this 70-mile coastline, watch birds and wildlife, and study up on some of the history of this region.

Speaking of birds, the Port Aransas Birding Center gives you a taste of nature you can get nowhere else. Even if you aren’t a birder, you may be one after you visit. This island sanctuary is the home to nesting species such as Least Grebes, Bitterns, Black-bellied Whistling Ducks and many more. Just the names spark interest! You can wander the boardwalks and look out from observation towers. Hike the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail to see more birds, or to just get some needed exercise and fresh Texas air.

If you love sea birds, the Hans A. Suter Wildlife Area is the place to go. Just head to the western shore of Oso Bay to view the tidal pools and see some amazing bird life. Bring a camera, as the scenes are nostalgic and beautiful. The Texas State Aquarium is another place to visit to get a look at the marine life from the Gulf of Mexico as well as the Caribbean. You have nine acres to tour and you must check out Eagle Pass, with the display of natural Texas landscape and the raptors living here.

The South Texas Institute for the Arts will be a nice surprise for your Texas RV vacation. You will view a wide variety of paintings, paper works, sculptures and photos. At the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History experience the amazing exhibits of archeology, history and more. The animal exhibits are fun too – with turtles, alligators and snakes. A really fun place to check out is the Texas Surf Museum with hundreds of pieces of surfing memorabilia.

The South Texas Botanical Gardens & Nature Center is the ideal place to go for a nice quiet respite from the stress of day-to-day life. Be sure to see the Butterfly House and walk through the tranquil gardens and smell the fragrant orchids and roses. Then it is time to get out for a scenic drive around the bay on the Beach Loop. Start off at the Corpus Christi Bayfront and drive for an hour (or more if you stop – which you will definitely want to do!).

Before heading home, get some more bird watching in at the Indian Point Pier and fishing at the Bob Hall Pier. What a perfect winter RV vacation! Come back any time of year for more fun.
