Atlanta for the Holidays – An RVers Guide

Left with a little time on your hands over Christmas break? Hoping to find a new way to enjoy RV camping during the holidays? Atlanta, Georgia, besides being a vibrant, ever-changing city, is a great place to spend time between Christmas and New Years Day. Here are just a few of the ways we’ve learned you could be enjoying an RV trip to Atlanta for the holidays.

  • Stone Mountain Christmas: Your kids may have done the Disney thing to death, but have they ever been to Stone Mountain Park? A scenic, exposed granite mountain just sixteen miles from downtown Atlanta is home to exciting family attractions year-round. During the holidays, Stone Mountain Christmas welcomes families with a wonderland full of events and activities. Buy a family pass and enjoy unlimited hot chocolate as you stroll magically-lit streets, tube down the mountain and enjoy holiday-themed entertainment. Exciting rides, a 4D presentation of The Polar Express and, of course, Santa will make this trip the best ever for your family. Rated #1 in Georgia by Woodall’s, the Stone Mountain Campground will help you wrap your holiday travel planning with a bow!
  • Atlantic Station Holiday Events: Friday and Saturday nights through New Year’s Eve, Atlanta’s hottest retail/shopping/entertainment district hosts “It’s Snowing in Atlantic Station”. Come watch the “snow” settle over the square and an enormous Christmas tree during this popular holiday event. You’ll also find restaurants, shops and holiday entertainment throughout the area, so plan to stay awhile.
  • Ice Skating! During the holidays, Atlanta entertains with ice rinks that cater to families. Visit Centennial Olympic Park for a wonderful day of ice skating fun with the family. A local favorite is the indoor seasonal Piedmont Park Ice Rink at the Park Tavern, where rink-side dining, a heated tent and special adults-only night skating keep the holidays fun. Forty minutes south of Atlanta, there’s also a magical holiday experience waiting at the Have an Ice Day outdoor skating rink in the Olde Town Conyers, Georgia pavilion.
  • Chick-fil-a Bowl Events: Have we mentioned the Chick-fil-a Bowl is played at the Georgia Dome on New Year’s Eve? Bowl Week events can be the best part of your Atlanta RV vacation. Buy tickets for the Georgia Aquarium at the Georgia Aquarium the night before the game, and then dive into a wild day of fan events and football on game day. Kick off the excitement at the Chick-fil-a Bowl Parade, and follow the crowd to the Georgia World Congress Center for the ultimate fan experience, the Chick-Fil-a Bowl Fan Fest! Later that day, lucky ticket holders indulge their love of football and tailgating at the MVP Tailgate Party inside the same building. Or park your RV at the Georgia Dome and host your own tailgate party! Here’s the link to purchase Chick-fil-a Bowl game week event and game tickets.

Sounds like a great time can be had by all in Atlanta, doesn’t it? Start making your own plans to go RV camping in Atlanta for the holidays. It’s going to be a hot time for the holidays when you head for Atlanta in your RV.
