Horseback Riding RV Camping Adventures

Veteran trail riders already know the joys of taking their horses along on RV camping trips. If you’d love to enjoy the luxury of an RV at the end of the trail, here are some places to visit on future RV vacations.

RV Campgrounds with “Horse Hotels”
Colorado is home to numerous RV campgrounds where your horse can also find a bed for the night. Echo Basin Ranch near Mancos has full-service RV campsites among the pines, with great views of Mesa Verde National Park. Horse pens are available and a trail ride along the Mancos River is the ultimate southwest Colorado experience.

You’ll find deluxe accommodations for both you and your horse at Hooves N Wheels RV Park & Horse Motel near Fort Worth, Texas. The town of Weatherford is the “Cutting Horse Capitol of the World” and they’re definitely tuned into what RV camping horseback riders need.

For a big dose of peace and quiet, hook your horse trailer to your RV and head for Chapel Hill, Tennessee. Their equestrian trails and well-shaded horse pens at River Road RV Park and Horsecamp are just two reasons your four-footed friend will be glad you did.

Another excellent RV campground and horse camp in Tennessee is the Big South Fork Lodge & Horse Campground. This campground is adjacent to a trailhead at the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, giving you easy access to all trails within the NRRA. Campsites with hookups are near the horse barns, so bring your favorite trail riding horse and share the fun.

East Coast RV campers will thoroughly enjoy a stay at High Country Horse Camp at Mount Rogers National Recreation Area in the Blue Ridge Highlands of southwest Virginia. Park your RV in one of the well-maintained campsites and head down one of the many trails that offer a breathtaking view. The Virginia Highlands Horse Trail is a particular favorite, rising to nearly six thousand feet in elevation.

And we can’t forget our West Coast customers who enjoy bringing their horses along when they camp. Rancho Oso Guest Ranch & Stables in the mountains near Santa Barbara features RV sites and corrals along the Santa Ynez River. With the trails of Los Padres National Forest a short ride away, it’s the perfect RV horse camping destination.

Why leave your horse behind when you leave town for a little RV camping? We’d love to help you plan your equine camping experience, so just give us a call here at El Monte RV Rentals when you’re ready to saddle up. Use these suggestions to turn your imagination down the right trail, and a horseback riding RV camping adventure can soon be a reality.

I would love to have my equestrian center and retreat listed on your site. We have a small campground with 30 amp and 110 service, water hookups, and a dump station on the premises. The camp sites are paved and 40-60 feet long. If traveling with companions who do not wish to camp, we also have a 2 bedroom luxury rental cabin on the river and bunk house lodging. Stabling for horses is also available, along with equestrian amenities such as a resident trainer, indoor and outdoor arenas, and hot water wash racks. Reviews can be read in the Guest Book on our web site.
