A New York Revolutionary War RV Vacation Itinerary

In our 2nd itinerary for exploring the history of the American Revolution, we move on to the State of New York.

There are almost too many historic sites to name in New York State, but here are some of the top picks for RV travelers:

  • Washington’s Headquarters State Historic Site: Newburgh, located in southern New York State, is home to the estate where George Washington made some of the most important decisions of the Revolutionary War.
  • Fort Ticonderoga: On the southwest shore of Lake Champlain, within six-million-acre Adirondack Park, you’ll find historic Fort Ticonderoga. Learn how Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys caught the sleeping British Troops off-guard and captured the Fort in 1775. While in upstate New York, plan to camp at Brookwood RV Resort on Lake George.
  • Old Fort Niagara: Combine a visit to Niagara Falls with a stop at Old Fort Niagara, historic protector of access to the Great Lakes. For more than three hundred years, this strategically important site saw battles by the French, British, American Revolutionaries and the Iroquois Confederacy. A truly impressive experience you won’t want to miss on your New York Revolutionary War RV Itinerary.
  • Saratoga National Historic Park: Don’t leave the Hudson Valley without visiting

Saratoga NHP. Northwest of Albany, this Park commemorates Saratoga Battlefield, where American troops defeated the British in 1775 and turned the tide of the American Revolution.
