Sign for the Flying Horses Carousel in Oak Bluffs, MA
The Flying Horses Carousel is the oldest operating platform carousel in the United States. It was build in 1876 by Charles W.F. Dare and brought to Martha’s Vineyard in 1884. It was moved to its current location in Monument Swuare in 1889. It is operated by the Martha’s Vineyard Preservation Trust and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in August of 1979. It operates Easter Sunday through Columbus Day.
